The Outer Worlds 2 Review: Playing It Safe In The Halcyon Colony
Obsidian's sequel delivers more of what fans loved, but doesn't push the franchise into new territory.

The Outer Worlds 2 returns players to the Halcyon colony with a new protagonist and expanded scope. The writing remains sharp, filled with satirical jabs at corporate dystopia and memorable companion characters. Combat has been refined with better gunplay and more viable melee builds. However, the sequel feels safe - almost too faithful to its predecessor's formula. While the new planet environments are visually distinct, the core loop of exploring, conversing, and shooting feels unchanged. For fans who wanted more Outer Worlds, this delivers exactly that. Those hoping for evolution may find themselves wanting more ambition from Obsidian's talented team.
