The official developer conference of gamescom returns to Cologne on 23-25 August 2026, three days before the main show opens its doors.
gamescom dev is the games industry conference that runs in the days right before gamescom, and in 2026 it takes place from 23 to 25 August at the Koelnmesse fairground in Cologne, in the Confex conference and exhibition centre.
The event started in 2017 under the name devcom and was renamed gamescom dev in 2025 to make its link with the main gamescom week explicit. It is a business and knowledge event rather than a consumer show: the audience is made up of developers from one-person indie teams to large studios, publishers, service providers, industry organisations, press and students.
The programme is built around conference sessions covering game design, production, technology, business, community management and working conditions in the industry, plus networking and meeting space for studios looking for partners or funding.
For developers from Croatia and the wider region, gamescom dev is the practical half of the gamescom trip: it sits directly before the consumer fair (26-30 August), so a single journey to Cologne can cover both the business programme and the public show.
