PlayIT Show 2026 (Budapest)
Hungary's biggest video game event moves to MTK Sportpark in Budapest on 5-6 December 2026, with DOOM co-creator John Romero as a guest.
PlayIT Show, Hungary's largest video game event, takes place on Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 December 2026 at MTK Sportpark in Budapest. The show is organised by PlayIT Entertainment Kft.
The organisers promise a bigger edition than in previous years, covering new games to try, esports and other competitions, cosplay, retro gaming, stage programme, family-friendly activities and guest appearances. The first confirmed guest is John Romero, the co-creator of DOOM, who will be at the show on both days for photos, signings and gaming challenges. The full programme has not been published yet.
Tickets are sold through the official PlayIT website; the organisers note that the current price tier is limited in time and a price increase is coming, so it pays to buy early. Exact prices are listed on the ticket page.
Why go: Budapest is well connected to Zagreb by road and rail, and PlayIT is one of the larger December gaming shows in Central Europe - a good pre-holiday weekend trip for players from Croatia and the region, especially fans of classic shooters who want to meet Romero.
