Hogwarts Legacy 2 Is Officially Happening - and I Have Feelings
Warner Bros. has confirmed in an earnings report that a second Hogwarts Legacy installment is in active development. No release window, no details yet - but after the original became one of the biggest console hits in years, this was only a matter of time.

Okay, so this one wasn't exactly a shock - but it still made me sit up. Warner Bros. has officially confirmed that Hogwarts Legacy 2 is in the works. Not a rumour, not a job listing someone spotted at 2am. The company itself said, in an earnings report, that a "second installment" is actively in development.
And honestly? Of course it is. The first Hogwarts Legacy was a phenomenon. It landed on basically every console you could name - PlayStation, Xbox, Switch - and became one of the best-selling games of this generation. My nephew played it. My colleague who hadn't touched a controller in ten years played it. Walking into that castle for the first time did something to people, whether they grew up with the books or not.
The unromantic part
Here's the thing that always makes me wrinkle my nose a little: this wasn't a trailer, a teaser, or even a cheeky tweet. It was a line in a financial report, where WB said titles like Hogwarts Legacy 2 are expected to "meaningfully contribute" to future revenue. Which, sure - that's what earnings reports are for. But it does tell you how the company sees this game: as a pillar of the balance sheet first.
My hope is that the actual developers get the room to make it a pillar of something else - a world you want to live in. Because that's what made the first game work. Not the licence, not the marketing. The feeling of climbing on a broom at sunset and just... flying nowhere in particular.
What I'd love from a sequel? More life inside the castle after the story ends, companions who feel like actual friends, and please, a version for every console family from day one - the original eventually reached everyone, and that generosity paid off massively.
For now we have no date, no platforms, no screenshots. Just confirmation that it's real. And you know what? After years of "sources say" and "insiders claim", I'll take an official yes. Now show me the castle.
